Artistry parking garage

The Artistry residential development at 19th and Oak Streets in the Crossroads Arts District, in conjunction with DRAW architecture + design, invited Derek Porter and Anne Lindberg to develop a parking garage screen design. The City of Kansas City requires all new parking garages to include screening elements to enhance the street appeal for typical cast concrete garages. Sweeping around the southwest corner of the garage, Porter and Lindberg designed horizontal bands of vertically striped panels in a medley of changing colors and widths. This gesture adds a sense of dynamic movement along the edge of the Oak Street viaduct and from the street level garage and pedestrian entries. Completion expected in the late 2020.
